Hot-air balloon testing

August 11, 2021

In the late afternoon of August 11, we had an exciting event occur at Waverly Acres. Tom Davenport — a pilot for Continental Airlines — brought out from storage a Continental hot-air balloon. With the help of friends in the neighborhood, Tom laid out the balloon in Rusty Shannon’s front yard and proceeded to direct his helpers in getting it ready for inflation.

The balloon hadn’t been inflated for over 10 years, so Tom was curious whether it was still capable of being inflated. As you can see from the photos, it was a great success!
